Police said a woman was walking underneath the SkyCity Tower glass water slide at i-City when the float suddenly fell and struck her on Wednesday.

PETALING JAYA:
i-City Shah Alam has suspended operations of its SkyCity Tower glass water slide as police investigate the Wednesday incident in which a float dislodged and fell on a visitor.

In a statement this evening, a theme park spokesman said guests who have purchased tickets can exchange their tickets for other i-City attractions or request full refunds by contacting them at 03-5521 8800.

“We remain committed to supporting Visit Selangor 2025 and Visit Malaysia 2026 by showcasing Selangor as a premier tourism destination,” it said.

The incident occurred at about 11pm on Wednesday while the victim, a woman in her 20s, and her family were visiting the theme park.

She was walking underneath the glass water slide when the float suddenly fell and struck her. She was taken to a clinic and checked for injuries, but nothing serious was reported.

Earlier, Shah Alam police chief Iqbal Ibrahim said an initial investigation showed that the Shah Alam City Council had issued i-City a compound fine on Nov 14, 2024 for building the theme park without written approval from the council.

He said the probe into the incident is being carried out under Section 6 of the Selangor Entertainment and Places of Entertainment Enactment 1995 for operating without a licence, an offence punishable by a maximum RM25,000 fine or up to three years in prison, on conviction.

Iqbal said the case is also being probed under Section 337 of the Penal Code for causing hurt by an act which endangers the life or personal safety of others. This offence is punishable by up to six months in prison or a maximum RM1,000 fine, upon conviction.
