Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan said the first case involved two men from Sarawak who were arrested at KLIA Terminal 2 on Jan 22 after police found 30 plastic packages containing 30.3kg of methamphetamine in their luggage.
In a Harian Metro report, Hussein said the men, who were in Peninsular Malaysia for the first time, were taking the drugs to be distributed in Sarawak – especially Miri – on behalf of a syndicate.
He said the men, aged 25 and 18, were paid RM600 for every kg of methamphetamine they brought to Sarawak.
In the second case, a 36-year-old British man was detained with 31 compressed blocks of cannabis, weighing 31kg at KLIA Terminal 1 on Jan 24.
“The suspect is a security guard who entered Malaysia on Jan 16 from London. He intended to return to the city with the drugs,” said Hussein.
The methamphetamine was worth RM967,000 while the cannabis was valued at RM96,000.
He said all three men are currently still under remand.
The case is being investigated for trafficking under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries a life sentence and at least 12 strokes of the cane upon conviction.
