KUALA LUMPUR:
The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) firmly refuted a news report that national No 1 men’s singles shuttler Lee Zii Jia is ready to walk away from the governing body.

BAM secretary-general Kenny Goh said the world No 7 was “completely unaware” of the rumours of him quitting.

“His determination and vision remain the same, to be the leading national men’s singles player of the country. He is 100% focused on Paris 2024,” he said on BAM’s Facebook today.

Yesterday, a local news portal reported that the All England champion would leave BAM and continue his journey as a professional player.

It was also reported that the 23-year-old would receive a seven-figure amount of sponsorship money should he decide to do so.
