PETALING JAYA:
Over a hundred guests attended 86-year-old former Methodist Boys School Principal Yong Chee Seng’s wake service here today.

Besides family members and friends, several members from DAP were also present.

Yong died on Saturday. He was injured when his Toyota Vios plunged into a 12m-deep “pipe-jacking pit” (sewerage pit) in Jalan Universiti on May 3.

His 30-year-old maid was the only other person in the car when the accident occurred. She was also slightly injured.

The DAP members who came to pay their respects included Seputeh MP Teresa Kok, Damansara Utama Assemblywoman Yeo Bee Yin and Bukit Gasing representative Rajiv Rishyakaran.

The deceased’s family requested that reporters refrain from asking questions during the service, but thanked everyone in attendance.

Since the incident, various government agencies as well as the general public have called for stricter enforcement and action against errant contractors.
