“Is it true that a senior minister has resigned from the Cabinet?” asked the PKR deputy president, adding that the resignation could be linked to the 1MDB issue.
Several checks with Barisan Nasional leaders could not confirm the claim.
It was again repeated by lawyer and former Bersih 2.0 chairman Ambiga Sreenevasan while speaking at a gathering to mark the second anniversary of the Federal Court’s conviction against Anwar Ibrahim in 2015.
Ambiga too, however, could not confirm the news, but said it “gives us hope”, and urged others in the government “to take the right stand”.
Tourism and Culture Minister Nazri Aziz when asked about the claim said he too would like to know the identity of the minister.
“I just really want to know who is this guy. Please la Azmin, please tell us who he is, so we don’t have to be in suspense,” said the Umno Supreme Council member.
