MALACCA: The Melaka Historical City Council (MBMB) has impounded a Toyota Corolla which had 440 unsettled summonses since 2012 with the fines totalling a staggering RM22,480.
It was “nabbed” in Jalan Melaka Raya 13, Taman Melaka Raya, here yesterday.
The council’s inspectorate and infrastructure development officer Md Derus Tompang, in a statement here today, said 54 of the summonses had been brought to court while the rest were being processed for further action.
He said investigations found the car was owned by a 67-year-old man and was used by his family members.
He added that the summonses had to be settled before the car could be released back to the owner.
