“I think the ordinary PAS members, if they understand the (national) issues will not want to see Malaysia go down the drain.
“We must reach the ordinary PAS members, nevermind Hadi,” Lim said at a teh tarik session with youths here last night.
Lim also alleged that Hadi was disinterested in combating corruption, which he could not understand as no religion could tolerate such things.
Once allies, PAS and DAP are now bitter foes after disagreements on Hadi’s plan to introduce stricter Islamic laws to the country.
Winning over the PAS electorate, Lim said, is one of five goals that the opposition must achieve if they want to win in the next general election.
The Gelang Patah MP said the opposition must also win over 3.5 million Umno voters.
“Umno president Najib Razak can reach the (Umno) leaders (at the) national, state and divisional (levels), but he can’t reach the 3.5 million Umno members.
“We can reach them if we can explain to them that under Najib’s administration, the country is going down the drain due to kleptocracy, the goods and services tax and corruption.”
Lim said two other goals were winning over voters from Sabah and Sarawak.
The remaining goal was for the opposition to retain each and everyone who already voted for them in the last general election.
“If we can achieve these five things, Najib is cooked, Najib is finished, Umno is finished, Barisan Nasional is finished.
“We can see a new dawn. Let’s hope so, I don’t know,” Lim said.
Besides offering youths a chance to mingle and ask Lim questions, the night’s tea session also served as a voter registration drive.
DAP also had a membership registration booth open at the event.
