“Congratulations to the government, Najib and the Barisan Nasional (BN) ministers. You have put Malaysia on the world map,” Mahathir wrote in his blog.
Najib met President Donald Trump and his senior administration officers in the White House on Sept 13, during which the Malaysian leader said he wanted to help “strengthen” the American economy by investing in infrastructure development and buying dozens of new Boeing aircraft.
In his typical sarcastic style, Mahathir declared himself “proud” because for the first time a Malaysian prime minister was able to “save a superpower”.
Mahathir brought up Najib’s visit to the US while commenting on an allegation by blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin that he paid DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang RM1 billion to support his appointment as chairman of Pakatan Harapan.
